Registration Frequently Asked Questions

Registration timing?
Students who are currently attending LOSD do not need to register each school year.
Registration opens in January for all students who are new to Lake Oswego School District. This includes:
- New students enroll in kindergarten for the upcoming school year.
- New students enrolling in grades 1–12 who have never enrolled in Lake Oswego before
- Returning students who are not enrolled for the current year
LOSD is pleased to offer online registration through its parent portal, ParentVUE (contact your resident school for help with logging in). See the Registration & Verification page of the LOSD website for guidance.

School open houses?
Our elementary schools host Kindergarten Counts in January for guardians of incoming kindergartners. In August, schools host a meet-and-greet with students and teachers the Thursday before school starts.
Our middle and high schools host open houses for incoming 6th-grade, 9th-grade, and new secondary students in February. A schedule will be provided by January.
All schools host Smart Start the Thursday before school begins for students with an IEP or 504 to meet their teachers in advance of school starting.

-
Non-resident student transferring to LOSD?
Students who reside outside of LOSD attendance areas have two options to transfer into LOSD:
- Obtain an interdistrict transfer from your resident school district. LOSD can accept an interdistrict transfer based on available space at the student's grade level and school. Please contact your resident school district to obtain release information and timelines. There is no form to complete for LOSD; the process begins with LOSD when a transfer is received from your resident school district.
- Apply as a tuition student if you choose not to try or are unable to get an interdistrict transfer from your resident school district. LOSD accepts a student paying tuition based on available space at the student's grade level and school.
- For more information, refer to the Non-Residents of LOSD page.
-
LOSD student moving?
Mid-year move: If you move out of the district or within the district, your student will be allowed to finish the school year at their current school.
