Diversity and Inclusion
The Lake Oswego School District celebrates diversity and inclusion. LOSD defines diversity as all the unique identities that our students and families bring to our schools. We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive space where children feel a sense of belonging, and where they can thrive regardless of their unique identities.
Diversity is key in developing four skills that are essential in the 21st century: communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity. LOSD believes that embracing diversity and inclusion prepares students to become lifelong learners and contributing world citizens.
Equity and Access
The Lake Oswego School District commits to achieving educational equity. (Equity Policy) LOSD defines equity as providing access to what each and every student needs to be successful academically and socially. In order to achieve educational equity, LOSD is intentional about removing systemic barriers and providing accommodations that create equitable outcomes for students. The goal is to raise the academic and social achievement of all, while narrowing the opportunity gap amongst the different groups within the LOSD learning community.

All Students Belong Policy
On November 16, 2020, the LOSD School Board approved the ALL Students Belong Policy which prohibits the display of hate symbols and the use of hate speech in our school community. This is another step forward in our efforts of becoming an anti-bias and anti-racist organization and living up to the District’s core values of equity and inclusion. The All Students Belong Policy makes it clear that hate will not be tolerated nor accepted in our schools. We encourage students to stand against hate by interrupting and reporting any bias and/or racist incident that they witness or personally experience. We want LOSD schools to be safe, welcoming, and loving spaces where all students have the opportunity to be themselves and thrive socially and academically. If you have witnessed or experienced any harm directed to any student, teacher, or staff member based on perceived or actual identity, you can report to your administrator, a trusted staff member, by using the new High School: Hate Speech and Microaggressions or anonymously to SafeOregon.
